How NAC International was born

In November 2005, the WABBA World Championships were held in Cuxhaven, Germany — a gathering of nations and athletes united by their love of bodybuilding. At that time, every four years, a new president was elected. For the previous eight years, the position had been held by Mr. Bruno Piccoli of Italy.

During the world congress, as the time came to elect new leadership, the nations cast their votes — and to the surprise of many, Mr. Eugene Laviscount was chosen as the new president. Eugene had played a key role in expanding WABBA's reach, bringing in new countries through both competitions and exhibitions.

While this democratic choice represented progress for many, it also revealed underlying tensions. In an unfortunate moment that deeply shocked the room, Mr. Piccoli expressed his dissatisfaction in a manner that did not reflect the values of unity and respect that bodybuilding stands for.

In response, the majority of the nations walked out in solidarity — with the exception of one — and gathered to chart a new course forward. In that room, a new vision was born.

Recognizing the need for strong infrastructure and shared leadership, Eugene proposed that Mr. Harald Hoyler, the long-standing President of Germany’s NAC (National Athletic Committee), take the lead in shaping this new organization. With unanimous support, NAC International was founded — built on the principles of equality, global unity, and the celebration of athletic excellence.

Since that day, NAC International has continued to grow, standing as a federation that believes in opportunity for all, regardless of background or nationality — where integrity leads, and the athletes always come first.
